Every year for the past decade, I’ve had the honor of recognizing outstanding artwork from students across Northwest and Central Illinois as part of the Congressional Art Competition. I look forward to seeing these wonderful pieces of art hung in the halls of my district and DC offices, and the U.S. Capitol — congratulations to all!

Winning first place is Taylor Whitehall from Pekin Community High School, whose submission “The Last Goodbye” will be displayed in the United States Capitol.

“Mundo de Sueños” by Selene Diaz from Lewistown High School will hang in my office in Washington, DC.

“Sunset of the Past” by Katelyn Stolz from Pekin Community High School will hang in my office in Peoria.

“Happiness and Sadness” by Noelia Martinez from Kewanee High School will hang in my Rock Island office.

“Corvidae Family Tree” by AJ Evon from Freeport High School will hang in my Rockford office.

Thank you to all of the students who participated in this year’s Congressional Art Competition! Northwest and Central Illinois is the home of some seriously talented young artists!
