Community Project Funding Overview

The FY 2023 CPF request process requires Members to limit the number of requests submitted to no more than 15 requests.  Therefore, not all projects submitted for consideration will receive funding, and actual funding for projects submitted is dependent upon the FY 2023 appropriations process.  Projects submitted to the appropriate House Appropriations Subcommittee will be posted on our official website two weeks after submission deadlines.

For-profit entities are not eligible for Community Project Funding.  It is also important to note that the Appropriations Subcommittees are seeking projects in which funds are anticipated to be obligated in FY 2023 (October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023).  Therefore, only projects that will meet this benchmark should be submitted.  Additionally, many funding categories require non-federal funding matches to the federal funds requested, provided by the local communities, to equal a project’s cost.

Further, substantial documentation will need to be submitted along with these requests to demonstrate community engagement and support.  Projects for which there is insufficient documentation will not be eligible for Community Project Funding.  Examples of the types of evidence sought by the House Appropriations Committee include but are not limited to:

  • letters of support from elected community leaders;
  • press articles highlighting the need for the requested project funding;
  • support from newspaper editorial boards;
  • projects listed on State intended use plans, community development plans, or other publicly available planning documents; or
  • resolutions passed by city councils or boards.

When submitting project requests, please include in your request a cover letter that ranks the projects submitted in priority order.
