MN Volunteer Opportunities & Additional Resources

MN Volunteer Opportunities

It is important that in these challenging times, we are still reminded of the value of community connections. Many Minnesotans are stepping up in amazing ways to help meet the needs of their friends, family, and neighbors. MN CovidSitters, founded by U of M medical students, is one of our community's shining examples. They are recruiting volunteers to help healthcare professionals with childcare and household management opportunities like grocery shopping and pet-sitting. They have also compiled this list of many other Minnesota volunteer opportunities for those looking to help our community members in need.

It is important to stay informed on news and resources available to you as the situation continues to develop.

Governor Walz's Covid-19 website has more information about current executive orders, including the Stay at Home order, and other Minnesota coronavirus updates.

The Star Tribune has lifted paywalls for all coverage related to Covid-19, and they are tracking Minnesota cases here. You can also subscribe to their free daily newsletter to get email updates on the latest information about coronavirus in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Health provides situation updates on the disease's spread within the state, as well as frequently asked questions available here. The MN Department of Health also has pages on the coronavirus in Hmong, Somali, Spanish, and a video of the PSA in American Sign Language.

Additional newsletters are available from the MN Department of Health and the CDC.

Other Resources

While I push for comprehensive federal support for every corner of our community during this crisis, I know that people have immediate needs. Belows are some additional resources offered by non-governmental organizations and local governments.
