Letlow Urges State to Request USDA Assistance for Northeast Louisiana

September 2, 2022

START, LA - Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) today sent a letter to Governor John Bel Edwards urging the state to formally request USDA assistance for farmers impacted by recent storms in Northeast Louisiana. With record rainfalls across the region last week, many soybeans, cotton, and corn growers suffered substantial damage to their crops going into their scheduled harvest.

“As I’ve traveled across the Fifth District in the last week, I’ve heard from countless farmers who have seen significant losses to their crops,” Letlow said. “I firmly believe that the best solution is for the state to request assistance directly from the USDA. I look forward to working with Governor Edwards to ensure Northeast Louisiana’s hardworking farmers have all the resources and assistance they need to recover.”
