Art Competition

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as here in Hawaiʻi.The Congressional Art Competitionis open to all high school students in Hawaiʻi’s 2nd Congressional District. The over-all winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington, D.C. will also include artwork from other contest winners nation-wide.

The guidelines are very important, as work that fails to meet them cannot be accepted.  Please be sure to also fill out the student release from for your participation and adhere to the requirements below.

  1. This contest is open to high school students only (grades 9-12). 
  2. The artwork is restricted to two-dimensions only. No sculptures or other media are permitted.
  3. All entries must be an original in concept, design, and execution.
  4. The artwork may be no larger than 26” x 26” x 4”, including the frame.
  5. The artwork  may be: paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, or photography

* If your artwork is selected as the winning piece, it must arrive in Washington, DC, framed. Even when framed, it must still measure no larger than the above maximum dimensions and weigh no more than 15 pounds. 

The deadline to submit a photo of your original art work along with a signed Student Information and Release Form is April 22th, 2022.

What are these options?

Constituents who are hard of hearing or use a video phone have the option to choose TDD or VP based on the type of device they are using. This allows our office to respond to them accordingly. The default option 'Voice' is a standard audible telephone.
