Change Will Fix the ‘Family Glitch’ that Affects 77,000 Iowans
Today, Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) applauded the Biden Administration’s final rule to end the “family glitch” in the Affordable Care Act, an issue that excluded certain families from premium subsidies under the ACA because they are deemed to have ‘affordable’ coverage through their employers. That determination previously only accounted for the cost of insuring the individual offered health insurance via their employer – not their whole family.

Out-of-Stock Rates for Infant Formula in Iowa Soared to Over 50% at the Height of the Recent Shortage
After the shutdown of an Abbott infant formula production plant in Sturgis, Michigan this past February, more than 40% of the nation’s supply of baby formula was out of stock by May. Iowa was one of the states most heavily impacted, with the statewide infant formula out-of-stock percentage soaring to over 50%.
