The 2022 Congressional Art Competition is underway, and the due date for submissions has been extended to Friday, April 29th. All submissions will only be accepted digitally. Please take a high resolution scan or photo of your artwork and email it to arts.mcbath@mail.house.gov.

A release form must be completed prior to submission and accompany your high resolution scan or photo as a PDF attachment. The required release form for the competition can be found below. When the competition award ceremony is scheduled, all participants will be contacted with event details and instructions. As a reminder, winning artwork (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) must be framed and matted for display in the U.S. Capitol or one of Rep. McBath's offices.

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent of students in the Sixth Congressional District and across the nation. One winner from each district will be selected to travel to Washington, D.C. to see their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

Artwork must conform to these restrictions:

• Artwork must be two-dimensional
• Artwork can be no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, including the frame.
• No framed piece should weigh more than 15 pounds.
• Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:
• Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
• Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (It is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.)
• Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
• Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
• Collages (must be two dimensional)
• Computer-generated art
• Photographs

Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement), that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted.
