America’s veterans fought to protect our freedoms, and this committee’s top priority is to make sure we take care of our veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. There is no group of people I hold in higher regard than those who serve our nation, and I take seriously the responsibility of providing our veterans with the best our country has to offer.
As Ranking Member, I will work to make certain the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) implements the Congressional reforms laid out in the VA MISSION Act bringing the VA into the 21st century and providing veterans with the best possible care and services. I also remain dedicated to mental health and suicide prevention efforts to address the mental health crisis among our returning servicemembers
I have always relied on veterans to help drive policy decisions in Washington, and I will continue to look to those who have served for ideas and solutions to improve the lives of their fellow servicemembers. As Ranking Member, I am committed to ensuring our veterans have the right resources at the right time to achieve success after service. About Ranking Member Moran
Kansans first elected Jerry Moran to the United States Senate in 2010 after he served in the U.S. House of Representatives. He previously served as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and has served as a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee since he was elected to the Senate.
Throughout his time in Congress, Sen. Moran has made improving the quality of life for veterans across the country a top priority, including the nearly 200,000 veterans living in Kansas. He continues fighting to make certain our nation’s heroes receive the quality healthcare and benefits they have earned in a timely fashion.
Before his election to public office, Senator Moran attended Fort Hays State University and later the University of Kansas where he completed a degree in economics. After an early career as a small town banker, he received his J.D. from the University of Kansas. Jerry and his wife Robba continue to live in Kansas. They have two daughters, Kelsey and Alex.
