That honors our heroes crushes the honors our heroes crushes the virus and puts money in the virus and puts money in the pockets of the American people pockets of the American people uh just recently last night or uh just recently last night or this morning this morning sent this morning this morning sent a letter to Secretary Mnuchin a letter to Secretary Mnuchin uh spelling out some of the uh spelling out some of the concerns we are still waiting concerns we are still waiting to hear back from the to hear back from the administration in good faith. I administration in good faith. I believe both sides have gone to believe both sides have gone to the table to discuss the the table to discuss the priorities 2 weeks ago. The priorities 2 weeks ago. The secretary said that he was secretary said that he was willing to accept our testing willing to accept our testing language. He just wanted to language. He just wanted to make a light touch on the make a light touch on the language 2 weeks ago. The light language 2 weeks ago. The light touch was 55% of the language, touch was 55% of the language, largely eliminating our largely eliminating our initiatives that addressed uh initiatives that addressed uh the disparities of the the the disparities of the the virus when it came to uh virus when it came to uh minority communities in our minority communities in our country more people in minority country more people in minority community, I am told have died community, I am told have died of the virus than those not in of the virus than those not in the minority. Me I’ve said it the minority. Me I’ve said it before if you’re a black child, before if you’re a black child, you have five times more chance you have five times more chance of going to the hospital for of going to the hospital for covet than if you’re a white covet than if you’re a white child, if you’re a Hispanic child, if you’re a Hispanic eight times more chance. They’re fighting health care workers first health care workers first responders, police and fire responders, police and fire sanitation transportation food sanitation transportation food workers our teachers, our workers our teachers, our teachers our teachers and the teachers our teachers and the president says. It’s a matter president says. It’s a matter of pride that he not support of pride that he not support them. uh then we have to safe them. uh then we have to safe schools. We should be most of schools. We should be most of the schools in our country the schools in our country could be open actually if we could be open actually if we would take the scientific would take the scientific approach it takes money, it approach it takes money, it takes more money than they are takes more money than they are willing to put up and we’re willing to put up and we’re asking uh for their response in asking uh for their response in that regard to have more space, that regard to have more space, therefore more teachers therefore more teachers ventilation. Sanitation technology to enable Sanitation technology to enable our children to actually attend our children to actually attend school children learning school children learning parents earning the parents can parents earning the parents can go to work. In the absence of go to work. In the absence of that, we also want them to put that, we also want them to put more money for child care as more money for child care as the children are not going to the children are not going to school, but parents cannot go school, but parents cannot go to work unless we have more to work unless we have more funding for child care and they funding for child care and they just will only go so far. and just will only go so far. and that’s what we’re asking them that’s what we’re asking them to go further again. These are working poor people falling working poor people falling into poverty and yet the number into poverty and yet the number they gave us back was zero. they gave us back was zero. They admitted that zero is not They admitted that zero is not a number, even though they said a number, even though they said they get back with the number they get back with the number they don’t hesitate. To give they don’t hesitate. To give $150000000000 in tax credit in $150000000000 in tax credit in a tax advantage to the a tax advantage to the wealthiest people in our wealthiest people in our country and yet they yet they country and yet they yet they refuse to help families for refuse to help families for following us and by the way all following us and by the way all of this is stimulus for the of this is stimulus for the economy. even if you don’t care economy. even if you don’t care about people as there’s some about people as there’s some question as to whether they do question as to whether they do you should understand that it you should understand that it is stimulus to the economies. is stimulus to the economies. People spend this money People spend this money immediately uh inject demand. immediately uh inject demand. Into the economy create jobs Into the economy create jobs and that is what has helped the and that is what has helped the economy even in this uh third economy even in this uh third quarter, but now that that quarter, but now that that money is fading uh unemployment money is fading uh unemployment insurance. uh we’re still insurance. uh we’re still waiting for us some of the waiting for us some of the response to the 5000000 response to the 5000000 Americans who are exhausting Americans who are exhausting their benefits and liability um their benefits and liability um safety in the workplace for us safety in the workplace for us is not a subject. It’s not a is not a subject. It’s not a provision. It’s not an item. It provision. It’s not an item. It is a value. It is an. Workers is a value. It is an. Workers will be safe in the workplace will be safe in the workplace at ten, especially in the time at ten, especially in the time of a pandemic where they’re of a pandemic where they’re exposure to it uh could not exposure to it uh could not only make them sick uh but also only make them sick uh but also their uh their families that their uh their families that they bring that home. So we’re they bring that home. So we’re we think that you know we we we think that you know we we have a list of concerns just have a list of concerns just give us your answer. Then you give us your answer. Then you can weigh the equity. If we can weigh the equity. If we don’t like this or we like that don’t like this or we like that or whatever it is and come to a or whatever it is and come to a conclusion. But we are ready. I conclusion. But we are ready. I feel very confident that Joe feel very confident that Joe Biden will be elected president Biden will be elected president on Tuesday, whatever the end on Tuesday, whatever the end count counts, but on the count counts, but on the election that occurs on election that occurs on Tuesday, he will be elected on Tuesday, he will be elected on January 20th. He will be January 20th. He will be inaugurated President of the inaugurated President of the United States. so while we United States. so while we don’t wanna be over confident don’t wanna be over confident or assume anything we have to or assume anything we have to be ready for how we’re gonna go be ready for how we’re gonna go down a different path. We’ve down a different path. We’ve come to a four. In the road come to a four. In the road when it comes to the Corona when it comes to the Corona virus, the president has taken virus, the president has taken us on a deadly path. The Heroes us on a deadly path. The Heroes Act takes us on a scientific Act takes us on a scientific path to help save the lives of path to help save the lives of the livelihood and the lives of the livelihood and the lives of the American people. So it’s the American people. So it’s interesting to see how many interesting to see how many people are turning out boating people are turning out boating in advance. Uh it’s a real what in advance. Uh it’s a real what whoever they’re voting for. whoever they’re voting for. It’s a joy to behold people It’s a joy to behold people exercising their civic duty exercising their civic duty honoring the sacred. That we honoring the sacred. That we have to vote in our democracy have to vote in our democracy it is appalling to see the it is appalling to see the obstacles to participation uh obstacles to participation uh that the Republicans and the that the Republicans and the president are putting in the president are putting in the way uh we complain when other way uh we complain when other governments uh try to undermine governments uh try to undermine the integrity of our elections the integrity of our elections or the credibility of our or the credibility of our elections. That’s one country elections. That’s one country and another credibility or and another credibility or integrity of our elections, but integrity of our elections, but is appalling when the president is appalling when the president of the United States of the United States contribute. To that, uh placing contribute. To that, uh placing doubt on the credibility of our doubt on the credibility of our elections and you have a elections and you have a president who has said he might president who has said he might not he may not accept the not he may not accept the peaceful transfer of power, all peaceful transfer of power, all the more reason for us to thank the more reason for us to thank God for the courage of these God for the courage of these people going out there to vote people going out there to vote waiting hours in line because waiting hours in line because the Republicans refuse to put the Republicans refuse to put money in this uh in any of the money in this uh in any of the legislation that we have had to legislation that we have had to the extent necessary to make the extent necessary to make sure that when people vote, sure that when people vote, there’s ample space. Uh there’s there’s ample space. Uh there’s two to facilitate. It’s a two to facilitate. It’s a courtesy the American people to courtesy the American people to say you go stand in line for say you go stand in line for hours we can do something about hours we can do something about it, but your time is not worth it, but your time is not worth anything to us so again uh this anything to us so again uh this weekend will be very weekend will be very interesting to see how many interesting to see how many more people will vote in more people will vote in advance. I hope that people advance. Decade is he living in what century is is he living in what century is he living in so completely he living in so completely removed from the realities of removed from the realities of life and that has caused death life and that has caused death without any questions you may without any questions you may have. have. I don’t uh our caucus has a don’t uh our caucus has a beautiful array of thinking of beautiful array of thinking of generational gender gender ID. generational gender gender ID. ethnic background, geographic ethnic background, geographic differences in the rest, but differences in the rest, but the one thing uh that unites us the one thing uh that unites us is our commitment to America’s is our commitment to America’s working families, and that working families, and that means our children their means our children their health, their education, the health, their education, the economic security of their economic security of their families, a clean safe families, a clean safe environment including gun environment including gun safety in which they can thrive safety in which they can thrive in a world at peace in which in a world at peace in which they can reach their they can reach their fulfillment. Uh so again. Any fulfillment. Uh so again. Any of us want to lead or represent of us want to lead or represent a caucus that is lock Step a caucus that is lock Step lock. Step caucus. We invite lock. Step caucus. We invite the exuberance the differences the exuberance the differences of opinion and we do not see of opinion and we do not see that as a problem. we see that that as a problem. we see that as an invigorating, yes ma’am as an invigorating, yes ma’am um the economy. The Cares Act deserves credit The Cares Act deserves credit for that uh the uh we’ve had for that uh the uh we’ve had lost ground in the second lost ground in the second quarter. Uh this barely makes quarter. Uh this barely makes up for that and the cares Act up for that and the cares Act of deserves credit for of deserves credit for injecting the resources into injecting the resources into the economy. Whether it’s uh the economy. We’re going to have H one HR one right off the bat one HR one right off the bat the about uh cleaner government the about uh cleaner government so that we can reduce the role so that we can reduce the role of big dark special interest of big dark special interest money that prevents us from money that prevents us from having uh policies that the having uh policies that the American people need and uh and American people need and uh and our uh. Have doubt that we can our uh. Have doubt that we can do unless we reduce the big do unless we reduce the big money and we’ve had a number of money and we’ve had a number of bills that we have passed uh bills that we have passed uh that will be ready for uh of that will be ready for uh of course, this will be impacted course, this will be impacted by uh Joe Biden agenda his by uh Joe Biden agenda his build America better is similar build America better is similar to our moving America forward to our moving America forward but nonetheless uh will be but nonetheless uh will be working in uh between the White working in uh between the White House and the Congress to get House and the Congress to get those jobs done. so we wanna we those jobs done. so we wanna we wanna have as clean as slate as wanna have as clean as slate as possible going into January, we possible going into January, we will have to do more on the will have to do more on the Corona virus to make sure that Corona virus to make sure that the Vaccine God willing uh will the Vaccine God willing uh will be available and that will take be available and that will take resources to make sure it’s resources to make sure it’s available to everyone not just available to everyone not just those in a position uh to pay those in a position uh to pay for it. So yeah, I know we what for it. So yeah, I know we what we’ve been why would we be we’ve been why would we be talking to them if we didn’t talking to them if we didn’t want a bill uh other than our want a bill uh other than our heroes .4000000000, which is heroes .4000000000, which is what the trillion which the what the trillion which the American people need. but I’m American people need. but I’m not we’re not going to go to not we’re not going to go to anything like Mitch McConnell. Chasing treatment masking. Chasing treatment separation ventilation separation ventilation sanitation is that we are in a sanitation is that we are in a terrible place, and it was a terrible place, and it was a decision was a decision made by decision was a decision made by this president of the United this president of the United States, so we have to have States, so we have to have enough money to address that, enough money to address that, and we still haven’t gotten the and we still haven’t gotten the yes from the White House on yes from the White House on that subject, so again has to that subject, so again has to be about the quality of what it be about the quality of what it is yet. In the uh cares and the Cares Act uh in the and the Cares Act uh in the dark of night as well, uh so dark of night as well, uh so it’s not a question of having it’s not a question of having that discussion here. I think that discussion here.
