“Pie baking is a lost art in our rapid culture of convenience, but we bake completely from scratch, using my grandmother and great-grandmother's recipes,” says Rebecca M. of Peggy Jean's Pies, the Columbia, MO bakery she runs alongside her mother, Jeanne P.
Step inside and you get a view of the entire kitchen filled with their staff of locals, keeping homespun tradition alive and well.
Where’s your favorite place to get pie for Thanksgiving?
“Giving a child with cancer something as simple as a princess yarn wig or a superhero beanie gives them that much more courage and bravery in the face of difficult circumstances.”
Holly, a former cancer nurse, and her friend, Bree, started the The Magic Yarn Project to bring magic and joy to the lives of children battling cancer. What began as a single princess wig for a friend’s daughter has become an international network of “Magic Makers” who follow Holly and Bree’s online... wig tutorials and donate the supplies they need each week via Facebook App.
“We were receiving messages from people all over the world who wanted to get involved and help make a wig for a child they knew was battling cancer.”
From Boy Scouts to grandmothers to women in prison, Holly and Bree have built a loyal network of supporters that have helped them give over 30,000 wigs to children in 51 countries. A sprinkle of joy and magic at a time they need it most.
Holly and Bree are two of the of countless individuals giving back every day, but especially during Giving Season. Learn more about ways to give back this Season of Giving, visit about.fb.com/SeasonOfGiving
