VILLAGE OF OAK CREEK – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) joined a bipartisan group of House members to cosponsor the Great American Outdoors Act, legislation to fully and permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and address priority repair needs in our national parks and other land management agencies.

“Arizona’s First Congressional District is home to some of the most beautiful, culturally rich public lands in our country. These parks, monuments, and historic sites also bring in billions for our state and local economies each year,” said O’Halleran. “Maintenance of public lands plays a critical role in the health of our wildlife, the preservation of Native American cultural sites, the mitigation of deadly wildfires, and the strength of our economy. I’m proud to join my colleagues on this bill to permanently fund the LWCF and preserve our public lands for generations to come.”

Last month, O’Halleran joined two letters to Congressional leadership urging the full and permanent funding of the LWCF, investments in the outdoor industry, maintenance of public lands, and preservation operations in future coronavirus relief packages.

In March, President Trump called on Congress to send legislation to fully fund the LWCF to his desk to be signed into law. This bill is the House companion legislation to the Great American Outdoors Act introduced in the Senate (S. 3422) by Sens. Cory Gardner (R-C0) and Joe Manchin (D-WV).
