VILLAGE OF OAK CREEK– Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) announced the winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition, an annual event that highlights the work of talented young artists across America. One piece from each congressional district is selected by each member of Congress to hang in the U.S. Capitol for a year.

“I’m pleased to announce that this year’s Congressional Art Competition winner is Kelly Huang from Oro Valley, AZ,” said O’Halleran. “Her piece, Exposed in the Shadows, is an outstanding example of the exceptional artistic talent of students in Arizona’s First District.”

Kelly Huang is an 11th grader at BASIS Oro Valley High School.

"I live for the fleeting moment when my brush first meets the canvas,” said Huang about her artistic process. “This subtle but powerful energy that transcends above all releases emotions and experiences from me, bringing their valued presence into my artwork."
