O’Halleran Announces Service Academy Appointees

VILLAGE OF OAK CREEK– Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) announced this year’s U.S. Service Academy appointments offered to students in Arizona’s First Congressional District.

“Each year, it is one of my great honors to nominate bright, driven students in Arizona’s First District for appointments to prestigious U.S. Service Academies,” said O’Halleran. “I am pleased to announce that seven Arizonans I nominated have been offered appointments to military academies this year and I commend each of them for their hard work and dedication to serving our country.”

First District students offered appointments through O’Halleran’s office this year include:

  • Jordyn Ives - Marana, AZ, Mountain View High School – U.S. Air Force Academy;
  • Shayla Markle - Oro Valley, AZ, Salpointe Catholic High School – U.S. Air Force Academy;
  • Daniel Wall - Tucson, AZ, Canyon Del Oro High School – U.S. Naval Academy;
  • Brennan Sawyer - Winslow, AZ, Winslow High School – U.S. Naval Academy;
  • Stephen Keyes - Tucson, AZ, Principia Upper School – U.S. Military Academy (West Point); and
  • Gretchen Knox - Lakeside, AZ, Blue Ridge High School – U.S. Air Force Academy.

One additional student was offered an appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy through O'Halleran's office this year.
