2019 Congressional App Challenge

We are pleased to announce that the Congressional App Challenge, a competition designed to encourage student participation in computer science and coding, will take place from July 8th to November 1st this year. Officially launched by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, this nationwide effort allows students to compete against their peers by creating and an application or “app,” for mobile, tablet, or computer devices. The Challenge is designed to promote innovation and engagement in coding and computer science. The Congressional App Challenge allows middle and high school students to compete with their district peers by creating and exhibiting their software application (also known as an “app”), for web, PC, tablet, raspberry Pi, mobile, or other platform of their choice. We accept appls written in any programming language, for example: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, "block code", etc.)

Register and Submit

The Congressional App Challenge is open to all students in the 13th Congressional District of Ohio. Students entering the competition must submit their app on CongressionalAppChallenge.us by Friday, November 1, 2019. Submissions will be judged on the following criteria: quality of the idea, including creativity and originality; implementation of the idea, including user experience and design; and demonstrated excellence of coding and programming skills. The winner from OH-13, chosen by a panel of expert judges, will be featured on CongressionalAppChallenge.us, and the winning app will also be on display in the U.S. Capitol, honoring the winners from across the country. For more information, please visit the official Congressional App Challenge website at CongressionalAppChallenge.us or contact Catey Breck at catey.breck@mail.house.gov.
