According to the CDC, the symptoms of coronavirus are cough, fever, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste/smell. As of June 18, our offices in Utica and Binghamton are following state and local guidelines for Phase 3 re-opening, and are open for scheduled appointments only. September 16, 2020 - Following an announcement from Education Secretary Betsy DeVos that schools would be required to carry out standardized tests as normal in the 2020-21 school year, Anthony wrote to Sec. DeVos to urge her to reverse her misguided decision.
September 15, 2020 - Anthony and the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus - 25 Democrats and 25 Republicans - unveiled their "March To Common Ground" framework to help break the gridlock on the latest COVID-19 relief package and encourage negotiators to get back to the table.
September 10, 2020 - Anthony and Sen. Schumer announced more than $1.5 million in much-needed federal aid for municipalities in New York's 22nd District. The members secured the funding for Binghamton, Rome, and Utica through the bipartisan CARES Act and the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant program.
August 24, 2020 - Anthony worked with Reps. Rose, McKinley, Riggleman, Cisneros, Griffith, and Upton to introduce the bipartisan Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act. Their legislation aims to reduce and prevent suicide, burnout, and mental and behavioral health conditions among health care professionals amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
August 20, 2020 - Anthony joined Democrats and Republicans to urge Speaker Pelosi and Leader McCarthy to immediately return to the negotiating table and make a deal on a coronavirus economic relief package.
August 11, 2020 - Anthony joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers on a letter to President Trump urging him to provide full federal funding for the National Guard COVID-19 response in all states and territories.
July 30, 2020 - Anthony continued his work to support Upstate families and child care providers and voted to pass the Child Care is Essential Act and the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act through the House. Both bills would help families afford safe child care and help save struggling child care businesses as communities across New York State continue to reopen, parents return to work, and demand for child care services increase.
July 30, 2020 - Anthony joined Democrats and Republicans to urge congressional leaders to include the RESTAURANTS Act in any upcoming coronavirus relief package.
July 20, 2020 - Anthony secured more than $11 million in aid for hospitals through the bipartisan CARES Act. Funds went to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, Rome Memorial Hospitals, Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare.
July 16, 2020 - Anthony announced more than $71,000 in grant funding for fire departments across NY-22. He secured the funding through the bipartisan CARES Act earlier this year.
July 15, 2020 - Anthony visited Chobani's pop-up COVID-19 testing site in Utica and got a coronavirus test. Chobani, The Center, and the New York State Department of Health partnered to bring the pop-up site to Utica.
July 13, 2020 - In a major win for Upstate apple growers, Brindisi announced that USDA was reversing their decision and opening up the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program for apple growers. This followed Brindisi's biparisan push for action on behalf of Usptate apple growers.
July 10, 2020 - The IRS heeded Anthony's bipartisan call to clear up confusion surrounding EIP debit cards and announced they would provide additional guidance to taxpayers who accidentally discarded their stimulus debit card.
July 9, 2020 - Anthony announced that NY-22 businesses received more than 7,000 Paycheck Protection Program Loans, totaling more than $650 million in aid, and saving nearly 100,000 Upstate jobs. Anthony voted earlier in July to extend the PPP application deadline to August 8 to allow more small business owners to take advantage of the program.
July 8, 2020 - Anthony hosted his virtual July town hall to hear from constituents and answer questions about Upstate priorities. Anthony was joined by Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, a representative from the IRS, and Executive Director of the Broome County IDA Stacey Duncan. You can listen to the full town hall HERE.
July 3, 2020 - Responding to concerns from Upstate taxpayers, Anthony and Rep. Katko urged the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to take immediate steps to address confusion surrounding the agency's delivery of Economic Impact Payments by debit card.
June 23, 2020 - Anthony, Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY-21), and Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04) led a bipartisan group of more than 30 lawmakers to demand that the USDA include American apple growers in USDA's economic relief efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
June 17, 2020 - Anthony joined Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) to call on USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue to include hemp farmers in the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program so they can get the relief they need. Hemp farming has created new jobs and economic opportunities nationwide, particularly in Upstate New York, and Anthony is working to help these farmers fight COVID-19.
June 17, 2020 - Anthony and Erica visited a drive-thru food distribution event at MVCC to help distribute boxes of fresh produce and local dairy. The drive-thru event was run by Nourish New York and the Food Bank of Central New York.
June 15, 2020 - After hearing alarming stories from constituents who threw out their Economic Impact Payment debit cards because they looked like junk mail, Anthony called on the IRS and Treasury Department to improve their process and ensure every eligible American receives the payment they are due.
June 9, 2020 - Anthony and Rep. Katko urged HHS Secretary Azar to prioritize funding for New York State hospitals to help them recover from the pandemic. Hospitals in New York State saw 40% of the COVID-19 cases in the country, and yet received only 9% of the federal funding.
June 3, 2020 - Anthony wrote a letter to Speaker Pelosi and Leader McCarthy urging robust funding in the next coronavirus relief legislation to address our domestic manufacturing capacity and procurement of syringes, needles, and other materials needed to deploy a potential COVID-19 vaccine.
May 29, 2020 - Anthony and Rep. Katko released a joint statement calling for more transparency from Governor Cuomo on the transition to Phase 2 of the re-opening process.
May 29, 2020 - Anthony, a member of the House Blue Dogs Coalition, joined a bipartisan letter urging House leadership to investigate the United States' response to the coronavirus crisis, assess any potential missteps of the Chinese government at the onset of the pandemic, and address the United States' over-reliance on China for essential emergency equipment.
May 28, 2020 - Anthony drove to Washington to vote on the bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act to make the PPP easier for employers to use. Anthony was an original co-sponsor of the bill and it passed the House on a bipartisan basis.
May 22, 2020 - Anthony and a bipartisan group of New York representatives wrote to President Trump to express concern regarding the current June 24th expiration of the Title 32, Section 502 (f)(2)(A) status for National Guard troops deployed to combat COVID-19. President Trump heeded the New York delegation's call and later extended the deployment status of the National Guard so they could receive all the benefits they earned during the coronavirus fight.
May 21, 2020 - Anthony visited a Nourish NY site in Chenango County to help distribute food and dairy products to Upstate New Yorkers in need. Chobani and SUNY Morrisville also helped organize the dairy drive.
May 20, 2020 - Anthony joined Democrats and Republicans from the Upstate New York congressional delegation for a coronavirus town hall on Nexstar channels.
May 19, 2020 - Anthony partnered with AARP New York for a telephone town hall with NY-22 seniors.
May 15, 2020 - Anthony voted to pass the Heroes Act. This legislation includes an estimated $34 billion for New York State, more than $32 billion for county and municipal governments in New York, and nearly $4.5 million for NY-22 hospitals. The Heroes Act would provide a second round of economic impact payments to individuals and all dependents, provide hazard pay for all essential workers, and dedicate additional funding for coronavirus testing, contact tracing, and treatment. It also includes Anthony's ARC Act, which will cut bureaucratic red tape for rural hospitals in NY-22.
May 13, 2020 - Anthony delivered virtual thank you notes to local heroes. He organized the program to help show appreciation for frontline workers in NY-22 while he worked to get them the resources and support they need in federal coronavirus relief legislation.
May 8, 2020 - Anthony organized a bipartisan letter to House leaders calling for more action to address the opioid and mental health crises during the COVID-19 response and to pass the NOPAIN Act.
May 6, 2020 - Anthony announced more than $1 million for New York housing authorities he secured through the bipartisan CARES Act.
May 4, 2020 - Anthony joined more than 70 members of Congress, Democrats and Republicans, on a letter to SBA Administrator Carranza urging him to take immediate action to ensure small farmers and other agricultural enterprises can access economic injury loans and emergency grants.
May 4, 2020 - Anthony organized and led a bipartisan group of local lawmakers across NY-22 to highlight the importance of including state and local aid in the next coronavirus relief bill. Almost every local representative in NY-22 signed onto the letter to House and Senate leaders. Lack of state and local funding in any future coronavirus relief legislation would force state and local governments to make cuts to education, public safety, and hospitals.
May 4, 2020 - Anthony joined Congressman Katko and other NY delegation members to ask House and Senate leaders to increase Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) funding to ensure students with disabilities have the resources they need to succeed during this crisis.

April 28, 2020 - Anthony joined representatives from across Upstate New York for a televised town hall about the federal response to COVID-19. He highlighted the urgent need for more support for state and local governments, the disproportionate PPP funding New York State recieved, and more.
April 28, 2020 - Anthony joined a letter to congressional leaders urging them to extend much-needed economic relief to more Americans. 17 and 18 year olds, college students, and permanently disabled dependent children should recieve the same payments as everyone else.
April 28, 2020 - Anthony joined Congressman John Katko (NY-24) to support the Port of Oswego and ports across the country as they attempt to navigate this crisis. They provide a lifeline for trade and bring millions of dollars in economic activity and hundreds of jobs to our communities. Like many ports across the country, the Port of Oswego has faced significant disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we must ensure they have the strong federal support they need to recover from this crisis.
April 24, 2020 - Anthony joined more than 70 members of Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, to urge Congressional leaders to create a mechanism to fully fund the Paycheck Protection Program.
April 24, 2020 - Anthony revealed startling statistics indicating that New York State recieved the second lowest percentage of funding from the Paycheck Protection Program, despite being the state hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. He slammed government waste and demanded improvements from the Small Business Administration (SBA). In a letter to the SBA, Anthony outlined his plan to hold the SBA accountable and make sure PPP and other coronavirus relief reaches Main Street businesses instead of going to large corporations.
April 23, 2020 - Anthony helped pass a fourth bipartisan coronavirus relief bill through the House to extend funding of the Paycheck Protection Program, release additional aid to farmers, and infuse necessary funding into rural medical institutions. Anthony fought for and secured language in this legislation to expand critical Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to small farms. Now, EIDL assistance will be extended to farms that employ less than 500 people.
April 23, 2020 - Anthony joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers to ask President Trump to raise the limit on payments in the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program to help farmers get more relief.
April 21, 2020 - Anthony visited the HHS-funded drive-thru coronavirus testing site at the Rite Aid in New Hartford. This is the first HHS-funded testing site in the region, and can perform up to 400 coronavirus tests per day. If you think you should be tested for COVID-19, complete Rite Aid's screening HERE.
April 17, 2020 - Anthony called out the USDA for refusing to reopen the Dairy Margin Coverage program to help support dairy farmers.
April 17, 2020 - Anthony announced more thatn $42 million for NY-22 higher education institutions. The funds came as part of the bipartisan CARES Act, which he supported.
April 16, 2020 - After reports that the Paycheck Protection Program ran out of money, Anthony called on Democrats and Republicans to put politics aside, work together to replenish the PPP, and help small businesses recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
April 15, 2020 - Anthony announced the Thank You Notes for Local Heroes campaign.
April 14, 2020 - Anthony and Rep. Elise Stefanik led a letter from the New York congressional delegation to Agriculture Secretary Perdue asking for additional support for New York dairy farmers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
April 13, 2020 - Anthony wrote to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai to request that the FCC extend the Keep Americans Connected pledge and take steps to ensure big cable companies and internet service providers cannot raise prices for the duration of the pandemic.
April 13, 2020 - Anthony joined a bipartisan group of New York representatives to urge HHS Secretary Azar and CMS Administrator Seema Verma to prioritize New York State hospitals and health care providers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding should be allocated to New York State and other hot spots based of their share of national COVID-19 infections.
April 9, 2020 - Anthony submitted his priorities for a fourth coronavirus response bill to Congressional leadership. He called for additional support for farmers, health care workers, state and local governments, rural broadband, first responders, and small businesses.
April 9, 2020 - Anthony hosted a small business webinar with the Small Business Administration to help small business owners navigate SBA's coronavirus relief programs.
April 9, 2020 - Anthony joined Rep. Katko to urge Congressional leaders to include their bipartisan, bicameral Seeding Rural Resilience Act in upcoming coronavirus relief legislation. Continuing his advocacy for Upstate dairy farmers, Anthony said that more needs to be done to support American agriculture and expand access to health care in rural communities, especially during the coronavirus crisis. One way we can help support farmers is by expanding access to critical mental health care in rural areas.
April 8, 2020 - Anthony joined a bipartisan letter to House and Senate leadership to request that the Violence Against Women Act be reauthorized in a 4th coronavirus relief package.
April 8, 2020 - Anthony announced $17 million in funding for local transit agencies through the CARES Act. These funds will help protect our infrastructure and make sure workers and families have access to public transportation when we come out of this pandemic.
April 7, 2020 - Anthony announced $1 million in community health center funding in Upstate New York through the CARES Act. The grant dollars will be used by the health centers to fight coronavirus.
April 3, 2020 - Anthony helped introduce the Made in America Emergency Preparedness Act. This bipartisan legislation would require critical pandemic supplies to be made in America and would establish a National Commission on U.S. Preparedness for National Emergencies to ensure our country is ready for future crises.
April 2, 2020 - Anthony joined Rep. Antonio Delgado, Rep. Josh Harder, to lead a bipartisan letter of more than 85 members urging the Small Business Administration to ensure small farms can access immediate COVID-19 relief through the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program under the CARES Act.

March 31, 2020 - Anthony co-sponsored the Keeping Critical Connection Act to ensure Upstate New York cable and broadband providers can expand access to keep customers connected during this crisis.
March 27, 2020 – Anthony supported the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), which passed through the House unanimously. During negotiations, Anthony advocated for Upstate New York priorities and delivered.

March 20, 2020 - Anthony joined a letter to President Trump supporting his decision to invoke the Defense Production Act and asking him to immediately use these authorities to mobilize necessary resources and expand the production of ventilators, PPE, and other essential medical resources
March 19, 2020 - Anthony joined the Blue Dog Coalition to send a letter to President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence calling for the Administration to take immediate action to combat the surging level of COVID-19 disinformation on social media.
March 19, 2020 - Anthony and Rep. Katko called on the Department of Health and Human Services to prioritize sending supplies to Upstate and Central New York as the region races to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, and cases in New York continue to multiply.
March 19, 2020 – After passing two bipartisan coronavirus relief bills, Anthony submitted his priorities for the third stimulus bill to House leadership including:
- more masks, ventilators, and medical supplies for our health care workers
- additional support for rural hospitals so they can afford to keep their doors open
- financial relief for small businesses, those who are out of work, and seniors on a fixed income—grant money, loans, and tax cuts for members of our community
- programs to strengthen the ag workforce and help dairy farmers make up for milk losses—expand the safety net and re-open USDA protections for our family dairy farmers, as well as waive restrictions that might limit their workforce

He was joined by local health experts and a representative from the Small Business Administration to talk about steps Upstate New Yorkers can take to protect themselves and their families and keep their businesses afloat. March 18, 2020 - Anthony joined a bipartisan letter to Secretary Pompeo calling on the State Department to support the Ag industry by resuming H-2A visa applications, which have shut down because of coronavirus.
March 18, 2020 - Anthony and Rep. John Katko (NY-24) led members of New York’s Congressional Delegation in urging the Administration to support a major disaster declaration requested earlier this week by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. President Trump approved the declaration for New York shortly afterwards.
March 17, 2020 - Anthony called for an extension to April 15 tax filing deadline to give Upstate New Yorkers flexibility during these uncertain times. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin announced the deadline would be postponed to July 15, and Governor Cuomo said the New York State deadline would move to July 15 as well.
March 16, 2020 – Anthony met with local officials in Broome and Oneida Counties to discuss the funding for NY-22 in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
March 16, 2020 - Anthony co-sponsored legislation to ensure Veterans can access their VA education benefits during emergency situations like the coronavirus outbreak. This bill passed the House and Senate and was signed into law by President Trump on March 21, 2020.
March 14, 2020 – Anthony helped pass the Families First Coronavirus Response Act through the House, securing $6.7 billion for New York’s Medicaid program and $33.7 million for local counties. This legislation passed the Senate and was signed into law by President Trump on March 18, 2020.
March 12, 2020 - Anthony publicly called on members of both parties to work together to enact a comprehensive public health and economic response to the coronavirus pandemic.
March 6, 2020 - Anthony held a coronavirus roundtable in Utica, joined by Upstate medical experts and local officials. The group outlined the federal and local preparedness plans and response to the disease.
March 4, 2020 – Anthony helped pass an $8.3 billion emergency coronavirus response plan that included a $2.2 billion investment in the CDC. The bipartisan legislation also passed in the Senate and was signed into law by President Trump.
March 3, 2020 – Anthony visited the White House to discuss the importance of a swift, bipartisan response to the growing threat of coronavirus. Anthony, joined by a small group of Democratic and Republican lawmakers, met with top White House officials, Vice President Mike Pence, and White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Ambassador Deborah Birx.
February 2020 - Anthony signed a letter by 35 freshmen representatives to congressional leadership asking for more funding to prepare state and local governments to address coronavirus.
