Washington, DC

In my Washington, DC office, internships run throughout the fall, spring, and summer terms for college students to gain invaluable work experience.  The hours are flexible to accommodate students’ hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at least three to four days a week.

Congressional Internship

In Washington, DC, interns’ responsibilities and duties will vary, but will generally be tasked with legislative and administrative duties.  The legislative duties range from researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending various hearings and briefings on important legislative issues, and responding to constituent comments.  Administrative duties include answering phones, greeting constituents, leading guided tours of the U.S. Capitol, and working closely with staff on a variety of projects.

Interning in Washington, DC provides a unique, first-hand experience of the legislative process.  Interns get the chance to learn about all the exciting aspects of our nation’s Capital, while being able to absorb the many functions of a Congressional office.

Washington, DC internship applications are currently being accepted through the form below for the Summer and Fall 2020 sessions.

In my East Bay offices, interns may be asked to do a variety of tasks, including day-to-day office administrative work such as answering phones, drafting official correspondence and attending District events.  In addition, interns may be assigned to assist with various constituent casework or on district-based projects of importance.
