Internship Opportunities in Washington, D.C.

Congressman Lamborn's Washington, D.C. office is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 Congressional Internship Program. The internships run from January to May, May to August, and September to December (dates flexible). It's an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in getting a foot in the door on Capitol Hill. Our staff works closely with interns on various policy projects, and we have a very open, friendly office environment. Congressman Lamborn currently sits on the Armed Services and Natural Resources committees, so anyone who wants professional experience in these areas is welcome to apply.

Description:  

Ideal candidates will be responsible, focused, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and organized. We appreciate interns with strong writing skills and a general knowledge of politics and government. 

Duties:

Interns will be given real responsibilities in a dynamic Congressional office, receive training in current legislative and political affairs, and strengthen their leadership skills. Duties include: 

  • Responding to constituent requests
  • Attending Congressional hearings
  • Assisting with special projects, including legislative research
  • Other miscellaneous tasks, as required
  • Giving tours of the Capitol
  • Answering telephones
  • Data entry

 Requirements:

Applicants must have completed at least one full year of college-level courses and be available to work full time. We accept applications from all academic backgrounds. Although internships are unpaid positions, interns are treated as full participants in the Congressional office. Skills required include:

  • Effective and professional phone manner
  • Computer experience
  • Good typing ability
  • Punctuality
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently and thoroughly
