Veterans and COVID-19

FOR VETERANS:

HEALTH CARE

Are you a veteran and have questions about how the VA is handling the COVID-19 outbreak? Visit the VA's coronavirus information page to learn about the specific precautions the agency is taking to protect patients. You can also check the VA's Coronavirus FAQs for more information.

We also suggest you check the VA's Public Health website regularly to view updates and information about how the agency is working for our nation's heroes during this time.

You may also call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255.

DIRECT CASH PAYMENTS

If you do not file tax returns, visit the new IRS portal to enter your information so that you can receive your direct cash payment provided by the CARES Act.

STUDENT VETERANS

Under normal circumstances, switching to online classes would lower the amount veterans receive for their monthly housing allowance. However, the House passed legislation in March ensuring student veterans will receive waivers for classes changing to completely online instruction because of the COVID-19 crisis. Student veterans will now be able to maintain their current monthly housing allowance rate if their classes move online.
