Because of growing concern about the outbreak of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, I will be hosting a telephone town hall meeting TONIGHT, March 17, 2020 at 7:00 PM PST.
This meeting will include the participation of:
- Congresswoman Donna Shalala, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services for the Clinton administration, discussing the national scope of the outbreak;
- Dr. Barbara Ferrer, Director, L.A. County Dept. of Public Health, discussing the current local scope of the outbreak and what each of us can do to prevent the further spread of this disease;
- Dr. Elaine Batchlor, CEO of MLK Community Hospital on how physicians and hospitals are preparing;
- Loree Levy, Deputy Director, Public Affairs Branch, CA Employment Development Department on how to access unemployment, disability, family leave and other assistance due to work disruptions; and
- Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson, discussing the current city response to the outbreak.
