WASHINGTON, DC - Participating in the Congressional App Challenge for the second year in a row, Congressman Bob Gibbs announced the winners for Ohio’s Seventh Congressional District. A team of four students from Brunswick High School won for their app e-Cycle, an app that provides examples and methods for people to minimize their impact on the environment. The app is a game, allowing the user to earn plants in a digital garden for completing tasks in the real world.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Bob Gibbs announced on Tuesday a $3 million US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Loan and Grant award for the Village of New London. The USDA funding, a $2.1 million loan and $892,000 grant, will be used to improve the village’s wastewater treatment plant.

ASHLAND, OH – At a reception honoring the top ten finalists in this year’s Congressional Art Competition, Congressman Bob Gibbs announced the winners of the contest last night.

The first-place winner, Sarah Gillum of Plymouth High School, submitted her entry titled “Unmasked”, which will be shown in the Congressional Art Competition Gallery located in the tunnel between Cannon House Office Building and the Capitol. Sarah is invited to fly to Washington DC courtesy of Southwest Airlines to attend a reception honoring winners from congressional districts across the country.

The 2020 Congressional Art Competition for the 7th District has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congresional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Bob Gibbs, joined by Senator Rob Portman, Speaker John Boehner, and 10 other members from Ohio, sent a letter to President Obama on Wednesday raising questions regarding the process and authority of Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell to unilaterally rename Mount McKinley.  Secretary Jewell announced on Sunday evening she used a ‘Secretarial Order’ to change the name of Mount McKinley, overriding the Board of Geographic Names and ignoring pending legislation in the House of Representatives.
