More on Spending Cuts and Debt

June 11, 2019 Press Release
Natural disasters are unpredictable. Congress failing to wisely prepare for them is not. For too long, Washington has governed by crisis and spurned it’s responsibility to adequately care for those in need, opting instead to saddle our children and grandchildren with an impossible debt. We should help Americans facing emergencies by appropriating funds within the budget before disaster strikes.
June 11, 2019 Press Release
We can help our neighbors and serve the Americans impacted by natural disasters by prioritizing our families before foreign interests. I am dedicated to helping North Carolinians in need of emergency assistance, but doing it in a way that doesn’t mean governing by crisis. Congress should take this opportunity to put America first and lead responsibly.
May 30, 2019 Press Release
This solution recognizes our dire fiscal health by reducing foreign aid and putting America and American recovery efforts first. As the President has said on multiple occasions, we must prioritize our domestic needs first and put American citizens at the front of the line, especially since they foot the bill.

Saying you will fund the government for a full year – except for the Department of Homeland Security – is like buying a house and removing the front door. The Good Accounting Obligation in Government (GAO-IG) Act would stop wasteful spending in federal agencies and bring needed accountability using GAO and IG reports, potentially saving taxpayers at least $87 billion.
December 20, 2018 Press Release
Now, each of the House Democrats who kowtowed, elevating Pelosi to Speaker-assumed will have to tell their constituents why they just voted to shutdown the government and prioritize leaving our borders open to gangs, terrorists, and drug and human traffickers over protecting American families.
June 7, 2018 Press Release
The House passes the Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act, rescinding nearly $15 billion of unobligated balances from previously appropriated funding.
May 24, 2018 Press Release
The Good Accounting Obligation in Government (GAO-IG) Act would stop wasteful spending in federal agencies and bring needed accountability using GAO and IG reports.
May 9, 2018 Press Release
Rescissions aren’t merely a Republican political maneuver against Democrats. President Clinton used the process 166 times to save more than $3.5 billion. While effective, the most recent package sent by President Trump is especially innocuous, politically speaking, clawing back unneeded, unspent funds, some of which were appropriated as far back as 1993.
