Environment
Protecting our nation’s clean air, water and natural environment has always been central to SEEC's mission.
Burning, polluted rivers and visibly polluted air were some of the factors that led to the formation of our nation's bedrock environmental laws. Environment and public health are closely linked, and while we have come a long way, there are still many challenges facing our environment and affecting public health. Aging transportation and water systems should be replaced to improve air and water quality. We need to protect our National Parks and other public lands in order to preserve the unique diversity of plant and animal life, as well as our cultural heritage, for future generations. We should work to develop our cities and towns more sustainably and support wide-spread use of more sustainable agricultural practices. Finally, we must ensure that our environmental laws protect everyone. For too long, communities of color, low-income communties, and other frontline communities have borne the brunt of our economy's pollution while having less access to parks and public lands. It is incumbent on us to address these long-standing injustices now.
