Statement Recognizing World AIDS Day

As a country, and member of the global community, we recall the remarkable progress that has been made over the past 30 years in the fight against HIV and AIDS and work together for an AIDS-free generation.

Marking the occasion of World AIDS Day, the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus is pleased to announce our new website.  We hope this forum serves to assist in continuing the dialogue and dissemination of information among internal and external partners.  We also invite all Members of Congress to join the bipartisan & bicameral Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus!

This past July, the United States successfully hosted the return of the International AIDS Conference in Washington, D.C., celebrating the bipartisan leadership our country continues to display in responding to the global HIV/AIDS crisis.  While the annual number of new HIV infections has steadily declined, an estimated 34 million people around the world continue to live with HIV, including over 1 million people in the United States.

To recognize this important day and remember the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS, members of the Caucus will be delivering one-minute speeches on the House floor Thursday, November 29 at noon.
