Hello Friend,

We hope everyone is continuing to stay healthy and well. Below you will find an update from this past week along with upcoming events and recent legislation I have introduced.

COVID-19 Telephone Town Hall

Image

This Thursday, July 23rd at 5:00pm local Arizona time, I will be hosting a telephone town hall event. During the course of the call, I will be discussing the work that I am doing for you and answer a variety of questions from constituents, including concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic. To register, please use this link.

This will serve as an interactive way to connect with constituents, answer questions about the work we are doing in Washington, D.C., and discuss the resources our office can provide for you. Before joining on Thursday, feel welcome to complete this survey so I can best understand what topics you are interested in discussing.

COVID-19 Testing Tax Credit

Image

Recently, I introduced legislation to provide a refundable payroll tax credit to businesses, supplementing 50% of the COVID-19 testing costs they incur to conduct COVID-19 testing amongst employees. In order to maintain a healthy workforce, employees must feel safe when returning to work and trust they can be supported through available testing measures. The amount of the credit available to each business is calculated on a per-employee basis.

I am hopeful my colleagues in Congress will consider this legislation in the next COVID-19 relief package. A special thank you to the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce, and Carefree Cave Creek Chamber for supporting this legislation. I look forward to continuing to create policy to support a strong and healthy economy.

Defense Authorization Amendments

Each year, Congress passes our annual appropriations bills. This year, I submitted eight bipartisan amendments to be considered for approval in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This coming week, the House will debate all of the  amendments other Members have submitted to further strengthen our defense appropriations.

I am hopeful my colleagues will support my bipartisan amendments to help strengthen and support our armed forces. For a full list of my amendments, click here

Expanding Telehealth Post-COVID19

Image

I am pleased to introduce the Protecting Access to Post-COVID-19 Telehealth Act with my colleagues on the Telehealth Caucus, legislation aimed to advance solutions for how we can provide efficient and accessible doctor-patient care. It is clear that telemedicine is part of the future of our healthcare system, and should be continued as an attainable tool post-pandemic.

By offering medical advice at the comfort of your own home, telemedicine has become a necessity during the COVID-19 crises we currently face, and should continue to be an accessible resource for patients beyond the pandemic. This legislation will help ensure we have a choice in how we receive our care, and I am proud to give patients the control they deserve through this affordable innovation. Loop 101 Noise Abatement

Image

We have heard from many individuals in our community who are frustrated that the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has not proceeded to construct a new noise abatement wall along a specific section of the Loop 101. I drove out to see the situation for myself, and I fully understand our local community’s frustration that updated sound abatement barriers are not being constructed to reduce highway noise near this community.

Our office has been in touch with ADOT and the requisite state-level representatives at Arizona State Legislature, who are the primary points of contact, to lend support to community voices who are working to have this issue addressed. Please continue to communicate with your state and local leaders to voice your questions and concerns.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my weekly E-Newsletter. Feel welcome to share this email with friends so they can subscribe for updates and future events. If you would like to contact me, please browse my website for the different services our office can help you with.

Sincerely,
