District Update |March 8, 2020

Dear Friend,

As we continue to follow precautions in place to stay healthy and protected from the coronavirus, I hosted local health officials for a roundtable to learn how Arizona is working to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Staying updated on coronavirus and following guidelines set by our public health officials is of utmost importance as we continue to monitor the outbreak. Arizona Department of Health Services presented a power point with helpful information for Arizonans and we learned about the current climate in hospitals from Honor Health, Banner Health, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and Mayo Clinic.

Representatives from Maricopa County and Scottsdale Fire Department were also in attendance to provide an update on local government resources being deployed to combat the public health emergency.

Four main takeaways for Arizonans:

✔️Arizona is prepared to fight this virus
✔️ Surveillance and control measures are in place to control the spread                             of #COVID ー19
✔️There is strong communication between Arizona and the Center for Disease      Control and Prevention (CDC)
✔️Health safety information on AZ websites is updated daily

I recommend everyone check the AZ Department of Health Services website  and the Maricopa County Coronavirus website daily. I will continue to monitor the coronavirus outbreak and ensure constituents have access to the most updated information from Federal, State, and Local officials for COVID-19 on my website.

Telephone Town Hall

This Wednesday, March 11th, at 6:00 p.m. Arizona time, I will be hosting a telephone town hall for constituents to ask me questions and join neighbors in conversation to discuss issues affecting Arizona.

This will be an interactive way to speak with a vast amount of constituents, and hear the questions you have for me. I am looking forward to hearing constituent questions and concerns to best help me serve.

If you would like to be included in the telephone town hall, please use this link to add your contact information so we can give you a call directly.

Tribal Tax Hearing

During the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures (Tax) tribal tax hearing I had the opportunity to discuss the importance of creating parity in the tax code for tribal nations. This will create uniformity across the tax code, to ensure tribal nations are able to receive the same tax benefits as other states and localities.

Speech on Climate & Healthcare Technology

Each week we are seeing a new breakthrough in technology that can help us crash prices in our healthcare system, energy production, and more. During this week's floor speech, I discussed the importance of eliminating the government barriers we have in place surrounding innovative technology.

We have solutions that can help us pay for the promises we have made. It is time for Congress to start implementing the solutions that can lead to healthier and more efficient lives.
