WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) led a bipartisan effort urging the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to prevent pharmaceutical companies from undercutting the 340B Drug Pricing Program by changing it from a discount to a rebate model. This change would cause Central New York healthcare providers and the low-income and rural patients they serve to experience significant increases in the cost of prescription medications. Rep. Katko led this effort alongside U.S. Reps. Abigail D. Spanberger (D, VA-07), Cindy Axne (D, IA-03), Doris Matsui (D, CA-06), David McKinley (R-WV-01), and Dusty Johnson (R-SD-AL). The lawmakers were joined by 211 of their colleagues.

WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) today announced the passage of the Preliminary Damage Assessment Improvement Act of 2020, legislation he introduced in the House. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $57,000 in federal funds will be distributed to Public Broadcasting Council of Central New York (WCNY), Onondaga Historical Association, 1st Amendment-1st Vote, Cayuga Museum of History and Art, Syracuse University, Department of Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, CORA Foundation, Seward House Museum, Sodus Bay Historical Society, Everson Museum of Art, YMCA of Central New York, Fabius Historical Society, and Focusing Our Resources for Community Enlightenment (FORCE). The funds are available through the National Endowment for Humanities and the CARES Act.

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced Onondaga County Soil & Water Conservation District has received $50,000 in federal funds to protect drinking water in Onondaga County.

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $954,000 in federal funds will be distributed to the Town of Huron to support rural development projects.

The funds are available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program, which delivers loans and grant funding to local governments to help upgrade water and waste infrastructure in order to deliver clean drinking water and modern wastewater management facilities to rural areas.  In Congress, Rep. Katko has continuously led efforts to robustly fund USDA Rural Development, including an increase in federal funding for the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program in Fiscal Year 2021.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - As the nation continues to respond to rising COVID-19 cases across the country, U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) this week introduced legislation to restore a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program to assess potential implications of a nationwide pandemic on critical infrastructure.  Katko introduced the bipartisan Analyzing Disaster Vulnerabilities and Applicable National Capabilities for Emergencies (ADVANCE) Act alongside U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D, VA-07).

SKANEATELES, NY— In a ceremony this morning at Shotwell Memorial Park in Skaneateles, U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) presented long overdue medals to two Central New York veterans, Mr. Joe Carfagno and Mr. Drew Deapo. 

Both veterans were owed medals from their service, but had never received them. After contacting Rep. Katko’s office, the Congressman was able to work on their behalf to deliver the medals, and presented them today.

SYRACUSE, NY — U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced details for a virtual workshop to help Central New York seniors navigate the ongoing Medicare Open Enrollment Period.

The workshop will be held via Zoom on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 9:30am. Rep. Katko will be joined by an expert from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and providers. Together, they will provide information and resources on the open enrollment period, which started on October 15 and ends on December 7. They will also answer questions from Central New York seniors and discuss plans available to Medicare beneficiaries.
