Good morning, and welcome to San Diego.
I’m Scott Peters and I represent the cities of Coronado and Poway, and much of the city of San Diego in the House of Representatives.
It’s not hard to find warnings these days about climate change, and thankfully there are new activists and advocates every day. But I still feel that the most articulate and persuasive climate warrior may be one who’s been around for a while now, Vice President Al Gore. He wrote a piece that ran in Sunday’s New York Times entitled, “It’s Not Too Late.

We’re gathered here against this beautiful ocean backdrop at the site of Birch Aquarium at Scripps– a museum that showcases the renowned research discoveries of Scripps Oceanography, one of the leading centers for atmospheric, ocean, and climate science.
Thank you for inviting me to discuss the imperative of addressing the world climate from my perspective as a member of the United States Congress.
