Joined my @energycommerce colleagues to highlight our accomplishments from 2019. We've worked to curb climate change, improve access to health care, and hold the Trump Administration accountable. #progressforthepeople
Met with Shinichi Iida, Minister for Economic Affairs at the Japan Embassy to discuss the global climate crisis and the need for American leadership. He agrees the world is looking to the United States to do our part to reduce emissions and act on climate.
Visited Challenger Middle School in Mira Mesa to speak with 8th graders about what it’s like to work in Congress. They had great questions about environmental policy and how to be engaged in our democracy.
I joined @speakerpelosi to announce an agreement on #USMCA with stronger labor and environmental standards. Mexico and Canada are San Diego's top two trading partners and I look forward to working with my colleagues to move the final deal through the House.
I joined @speakerpelosi to share our takeaways from #COP25. It's imperative the U.S. has a seat at the table during global climate talks because we can't solve this on our own. We'll continue to show America is still committed to addressing the climate crisis. #wearestillin
My colleagues and I are in Madrid for #COP25 to show the world America is still committed to the climate crisis, which demands global action. We represent the majority of Americans who want to protect our planet for future generations. #timeforaction
Honored to spend Veterans Day at Mt. Soledad, Miramar National Cemetery, and the Mira Mesa Senior Center honoring veterans in San Diego and across the country. We are forever grateful for your service and sacrifice.
Visited Naval Base Coronado to see their new housing facilities and learn how their training spaces help with mission readiness. I met with Capt. Slentz at Naval Air Station North Island, which has provided aviation support to our servicemembers for over a century.
Visited Bernardo Heights Middle School with @sandyhookpromise to learn how @powayunified is implementing the #StartWithHello program and enhancing school safety. We discussed how our bill, the STANDUP Act, would expand suicide prevention and threat assessment in schools.
Thank you to everyone that came out to our Town Hall last night. Hearing directly from San Diegans is one of my most important jobs. I'll continue fighting for your priorities in Congress to build a better future for us all.
Visited @eissandiego to learn about their STEM programs for elementary school students in southeast San Diego. Getting kids from all demographics interested in STEM subjects early is essential to build a strong talent pipeline for our innovation economy.
We’ve worked with Howard and Jean Somers of Coronado to create a network of support for servicemembers, so military families can better understand the rigors of service and support their loved ones. Now, we’re collaborating again to create a similar network for our nation’s veterans.
