This bill would fix the problem created by the Supreme Court’s 2009 Gross v. FBL Financial Services, Inc. which imposed a higher burden of proof for age discrimination claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA). Rep. Cisneros is a co-sponsor of the legislation.

Cisneros honored the memory of individuals lost to violence and recognized a constituent who has been an advocate for the transgender community. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Cisneros has been fighting against the President’s discriminatory transgender service ban, securing amendments to the House-approved FY 2020 Defense Appropriations Act and FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act to prohibit its implementation. He also joined his colleagues in introducing the SERVE (Securing the Rights our Veterans have Earned) Act of 2019 to guarantee protections for our nation’s active-duty transgender servicemembers discharged from the Armed Forces.

H.R. 3536, The Justice for Victims of Lynching Act of 2019, would recognize that a lynching offense is a tool used to intimidate and deny civil rights based on personal prejudices.
