What is the success rate?

How does the cost compare to other federal Veteran Employment initiatives?

Current cost per placement is approximately $1,100. This, on average, is about $6,000 cheaper than it costs the government to put a Veteran on unemployment during transition, when accounting for tax revenue lost and unemployment benefits paid.

What are the current California unemployment rates for the target population?

California was one of only 17 states to have average a higher veteran unemployment rate than non-veteran unemployment rate in 2016. The current unemployment rate for California veterans is 5.5% while the non-veteran rate is 4.8%.

In the California National Guard (CNG), the overall unemployment rate is 7.1%, and the combined under/unemployed rate is 9.1%. Furthermore, when factoring out the Air Force component of the CNG, unemployment in the California Army National Guard (which is more than 75% of the CNG) is an unprecedented 12.3%. Work for Warriors has assisted in reducing the number drastically since 2012 (down from 25% by some estimates), but we still have a lot of work to do.
