Flag Day Event

The City of Pelham and the Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge presented a Flag Day Patriotic Celebration at the Pelham Civic Center on Flag Day, Sunday, June 14. The event celebrated the flag of the United States and included presentations of historic American and military service flags.

Pelham Mayor Gary Waters asked me to deliver brief greetings to begin the program. Specifically, the event reminded me of the hundreds of citizens waving American flags during funeral procession route for Marine Lance Corporal Thomas Rivers Jr. in 2010.
