Foster Introduces Resolution to Allow DREAMers to Serve in Military

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Last week, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) introduced H. Res 468, a resolution supporting DREAMers in the military. The resolution calls on the Secretary of Defense to authorize DREAMers to serve in the armed services. Allowing DREAMers to serve would improve military readiness and let young people who grew up in the United States serve the country they call home.

“For many of these young people, the United States is the only home they have ever known,” Foster said. “DREAMers deserve the right to serve in the military as patriots. Too often, our politicians demean these young people who have so much to offer our country. Allowing our DREAMers to enlist in the military would make sure our armed forces have some of the best and brightest young minds in their ranks. Every American deserves the right to serve their country through military service and DREAMers should be no exception. I strongly encourage the Secretary of Defense to review the current policy with the purpose of authorizing these individuals to serve their country.”
