Advocating for Coastal Restoration
Louisiana’s Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority’s (CPRA) $50 billion Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast (Master Plan) calls for spending between $700 million and $1.3 billion per year on coastal restoration projects.
These projects will improve our natural storm surge barrier, secure our critical coastal infrastructure, and provide thousands of good paying jobs. While the BP settlement will not fund the entire Master Plan, it does provide a significant down payment and will allow for substantial progress in restoring our coast. It is important that that we ensure these funds are fully leveraged not only to restore our coast, but to boost our local economy.
