Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) voted for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, a bipartisan relief package for workers and communities.

“Our country is at its best when we work together through times of crisis, and today, Congress acted in a bipartisan way to combat the spread of coronavirus and bring real relief to our workers and communities,” said Allred. “This bill secures free access to testing, paid sick leave for workers, and increased nutritional assistance for those who need it. As Congress continues to work, I urge my fellow North Texans to do your part, listen to the experts, and stay healthy. Our efforts over the next few days and weeks will dictate how we are able to contain and combat this disease.”

The bill now awaits action in the Senate and is expected to be signed by the President.

This action follows the passage of an emergency supplemental funding measure that provides $8.3 billion in emergency funding to assist with the initial response to the coronavirus outbreak.
