The National Defense Authorization Act fulfills our promise to rebuild America's military for the 21st century. It increases funding for missile defense and reforms our acquisition process to make it leaner and more cost-efficient. The NDAA also funds a well-deserved pay raise for our troops—the largest in eight years. Learn more: http://bit.ly/2tTkdw3

Congressman Gary Palmer (AL-06) has been elected by his colleagues to serve again as Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee (RPC) for the 117th Congress. Congressman Palmer released the following statement:

“I’m grateful to my colleagues for their support and look forward to serving them in this role again,” Palmer said. “Problem solving and practical solutions have always been the strength of the Republican Party, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to make... the RPC a reliable resource on a broad range of issues for the House Republican Conference.

“Going forward, I’m committed continuing to build the RPC as a dependable in-house think tank for House Republicans. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve our conference once again as part of our leadership team, and to collaborate with all our colleagues as we work together to advance sensible policy ideas that benefit all Americans.”

The Republican Policy Committee was established in 1949, and Congressman Palmer was elected as its 18th Chairman during the 116th Congress. It serves as an advisory committee to House Republicans and provides them a forum for discussion of policy ideas and current legislation before the House.

Democrats like to point to other countries with socialized healthcare, asking, "why can't we be like them?"

Here are a few good reasons:

-A 2014 report found that between 1993-2009, increased wait times in Canada may be associated with over 44,273 female deaths

...

-The Fraser Institute reports Canadian patients in 2019 wait an average of 20.9 weeks from the time their general practitioner refers them to a specialist until they receive treatment

-Canadians can expect long wait times for diagnostic technologies such as a CT scan (4.8 weeks), an MRI (9.3 weeks), or an ultrasound (3.4 weeks), as of 2019

-18% of U.K. patients requiring urgent cancer care do not receive treatment within 2 months of referral

-In 2019, the Royal College of Surgeons found that over 227,569 U.K. patients waited over 6 months for treatment due to National Health Service (NHS) hospital backlog

-Local NHS panels similarly ration glucose monitors for diabetes patients, hernia surgery, and hip and knee replacement

-A British Medical Journal investigation reported a 45% increase in hip or knee surgery denials by local NHS panels between 2017-2018. These requests were submitted by general practitioners on behalf of their patients and denied by bureaucrats – some of whom have no medical background
