National Cybersecurity Awareness Month Briefing on Cracking Your Facebook Page Wide Open

In recognition of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we invite your staff to join the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus and the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer for a security awareness briefing on Tuesday, October 18, at 10:30 a.m..  Protecting our information both on and off the House network is a House-wide priority.  This year’s featured speaker will demonstrate cyber attacks on Facebook pages and discuss the balance between utilizing social media and ensuring office privacy and security.  We encourage all interested staff to take part in this important and educational event.

Invited Guest Speaker:

Mike Murray, Managing Partner of MAD Security and The Hacker Academy.  Mr. Murray has spent more than a decade helping companies protect their information by understanding their vulnerability posture from the perspective of an attacker. In addition to overseeing advanced curriculum at The Hacker Academy, Mike is also a Managing Partner of MAD Security, where he leads engagements to help corporate and government customers understand and protect their security organization.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month, recognized every October since 2004, is a national public awareness campaign to encourage the protection of computers and our nation’s critical cyber infrastructure.  Cybersecurity requires vigilance every day of the year. However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC), the primary drivers of NCSAM, coordinate in October to shed a brighter light on what home users, schools, businesses and governments need to do in order to protect themselves, their children, their computers and their data.
