The Members of the United States House of Representatives sponsor a nation-wide art competition for high school students each spring. The winning piece from each congressional district will be displayed in the United States Capitol building for a year and the artist will receive 2 airline tickets to Washington, D.C. to attend a reception.  

Congressman Andy Barr invites all high school students to participate in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District 2020 Art Competition.

AWARDS FOR WINNERS

1st place:

  • 2 airline tickets to Washington, D.C. for a reception in honor of all 1st place winners nationwide.
  • Artwork displayed in the United States Capitol building for one year.
  • Artwork featured on Congressman Barr’s website and Facebook page.
  • Press release sent to home county newspaper.

2nd place:

  • Artwork displayed in Congressman Barr’s Washington, D.C. office for one year.
  • Artwork featured on Congressman Barr’s website and Facebook page.
  • Press release sent to home county newspaper.

3rd place:

  • Artwork displayed in Congressman Barr’s District Office for one year.
  • Artwork featured on Congressman Barr’s website and Facebook page.
  • Press release sent to home county newspaper.

Constituents' Choice Award Winners: (the entry that gets the most "likes" on Facebook)

All students will be presented a certificate of participation

Entry Instructions:

-Review the 2020 Rules for Students and Teachers, noting information about size, medium, and other important details. Only one entry per student is allowed. Framing is not required unless the piece is selected as a winner.

-Complete and include 2 copies of the 2020 Student Release Form. Attach 1 copy of the form to the back of artwork; provide other copy to staff

-Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the deadline for the Congressional Art Competition has been extended from April 9th to May 26th. Before delivering any art to the District Congressional Office (2709 Old Rosebud Road, Suite 100, Lexington) please call (859) 219-1366 to be sure the office is open to visitors. Instead of delivery, students have the option to take a picture of their art and e-mail it, along with the student release form, to carol.rogers@mail.house.gov. If we are able to schedule a reception for participants, students, and families, you will be notified. Thank you for your understanding.
