Congressman Deutch’s 2020 Congressional Art Competition Has Concluded.
The Congressional Art Competition (CAC) officials in Washington, D.C. have decided to keep the competition open, and they have pushed back the deadlines to be helpful. Like many offices, I have decided to conduct this year’s competition virtually. Students have lost out on many things this school year due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and I want to preserve the opportunity for students who have worked hard on their pieces to compete for a chance to have their work recognized and displayed in the U.S. Capitol. The winners from all congressional districts will also be honored at a reception scheduled in July. In the past, Southwest Airlines has awarded the winner and one guest free airfare to Washington for the winners’ reception.
How will it work?
Students will need to submit a high-resolution photo of their art via email, as well as a completed student release form. This year, since the art teachers will not be able to sign off on the release form, our office will accept an email acknowledgment from the art teacher. Please submit as soon as possible but no later than May 22, 2020.
Judges selected by the Coral Springs Museum of Art will review the submissions and name the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, as well as 2 honorable mentions.
These pieces will be featured on the Congressman’s website and social media platforms.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Arrangements will need to be made for the top winner’s piece to be framed according to contest requirements (see rules link below), and delivered to a representative of Congressman Deutch for in time for mailing to Washington, D.C

Congressman Deutch is proud to again host An Artistic Discovery, the high school art competition sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives for students who reside in Florida's 22nd District.
This competition is an annual contest sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives in which every congressional district selects a winning piece of artwork from a local high school student.
The winning piece will be showcased for one year in the Capitol alongside the winning pieces from congressional districts all over the United States. The winning artist and one parent or guardian will be invited to attend the recognition ceremony at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. in June 2020. In the past, Southwest Airlines has provided two round trip tickets to Washington D.C. for the winner.
Important Dates and Forms:
Students may drop entries at the Margate City Hall or at my Boca Raton office (7900 Glades Road, Suite 250, Boca Raton). We can also arrange pick-up if necessary. Deadline is early April.
