Enhancing Protections for Faith-Based
Organizations Against Terror Threats

One of my bills passed the House of Representatives and is moving to the Senate for further consideration. I'm grateful for the bipartisan group of lawmakers who came together to champion this much-needed legislation, which provides resources to protect places of worship and other non-profit facilities from attack.

“Ohio’s Jewish community, in Columbus and statewide is grateful for Congressman Balderson’s leadership on this, most critical safety issue. Spiritual sanctuaries should be safe spaces, not potential targets. Yet today, from Pittsburgh to Poway, and with a foiled attack in Toledo as well as the recent Ku Klux Klan activity not far from here, communities of every faith and cause based nonprofits of any kind are under daily threat. This increase in grant funding will help keep those threats at bay, and make public spaces safer.”

Honoring Those Fighting
Hunger in Our Communities

I was honored to administer the oath of office to AmeriCorps VISTA participants recently at the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. This outstanding group of public servants will play an important role fighting hunger and serving communities throughout Ohio.

Supporting Infrastructure
Investment in Our Community
I appreciated the opportunity to explore the progress made on the Lazelle Road and South Old State Road intersection in Delaware County. Thanks to Shelly & Sands for the visit and the chance to provide an update on what I'm working on in Washington to invest in our aging roads and bridges.

Championing Investment in Rural Broadband Access, Helping Vets Land In-Demand Jobs

With high-speed internet, rural Americans gain expanded access to health care services, have increased capability to grow their small businesses, and benefit from drastically improved educational opportunities. Though both were unanimously supported by Rules Committee Republicans, both amendments were not made in order by the full committee, blocking them from consideration by the full House of Representatives for the final version of H.R. 3055 being voted on last week.

I’m disappointed my amendments didn’t pass committee, but I’ll never stop fighting for rural broadband expansion and veterans’ job training. These programs are vital to the livelihoods of Americans and deserve to be supported.
