McCarthy Lauds Major Disaster Declaration for California Wildfires

Today, Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement after President Trump announced a Major Disaster Declaration following the devastating California wildfires:

“As wildfires continue to burn throughout California, this Major Disaster Declaration request – made by Governor Newsom and swiftly approved by President Trump – will provide critical federal funds to help us contain these fires. I am grateful to the Trump Administration, along with the ten states that have sent additional on-the-ground help, for recognizing the severity of the situation and collaborating with us to fight these wildfires. Judy and I send our heartfelt thanks to all the firefighters, first responders, and emergency service workers fighting to minimize damage and, more importantly, save lives. I will continue working with state, local, and federal partners to ensure that our communities have the necessary resources they need to remain safe during this time.”
