The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States protects the fundamental right of an individual to keep and bear arms, including for purposes of individual self-defense.
Congressman McKinley is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights and as a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association he will continue to defend the Second Amendment from those who wish to erode gun rights. He has co-sponsored legislation to protect the rights, privileges, and immunities guaranteed to a citizen of the United States. There are better ways to lower the number of gun crimes in America than by limiting the ownership and sale of firearms to law-abiding citizens. Part of that solution includes enforcing and reviewing existing laws, and changing how government and society deal with mental illness. While considering a range of legislative proposals, Congressman McKinley continues to stay focused on promoting gun safety and protecting the Second Amendment rights of American citizens. |
