As America responds to the global pandemic, it is important to stay up to date with the latest information.

This page includes resources to learn more about the virus and the response.

What is the Coronavirus?

COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. The virus is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. COVID-19 can be severe, and some cases have caused death.

Symptoms:

Fever, cough, and shortness of breath. May appear 2-14 days after exposure.

Stop the Spread:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Washing your hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water aren’t available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Practice Social Distancing, standing at least 6 feet apart from another person.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet). Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
