About the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19):

The current outbreak of the Coronavirus was first identified in China but has now spread internationally.  Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

Preventing the Coronavirus:

Everyone plays an important role in preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses like the Coronavirus. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus that causes the Coronavirus. Simple preventative measures can help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses like Coronavirus. These include:

  • Wear a face covering in public.
  • Practice social distancing and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

What you should do if you are sick with the Coronavirus:

  • Stay home except to get medical care 
  • Call ahead before visiting your doctor
  • Separate yourself from others
  • Wear a facemask when you are around other people
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • Avoid sharing personal household items
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
