2020 CBCF Scholarships

Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced Jan. 28, 2020, that the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Education Scholarship and the Performing Arts & Visual Arts Scholarship opened to applicants on Feb. 3. 

The deadline for both scholarships was April 30th. 

The Performing Arts Scholarship provides financial assistance to outstanding African-American students pursuing a major in performing and visual arts, including -- but not limited to -- architecture, ceramics, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, video production and other decorative arts. 

The Education Scholarship is open to any outstanding African-American college students residing or attending college in a Congressional Black Caucus member district -- in this case Georgia District 4, which encompasses parts of DeKalb, Gwinnett, Newton and all of Rockdale County.

Intern with Congressman Johnson

Washington, DC

In the Washington, D.C. office, paid internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for college students. Students live and work on Capitol Hill and gain invaluable work experience. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session.

In Washington, D.C., interns' responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.

District

In the District office, District internships are now paid position where interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent case work or work on District-based projects of importance.
