WASHINGTON, D.C. – Pro-Choice Caucus Chairs Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Barbara Lee (D-CA) and taskforce leads Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Judy Chu (D-CA), Jackie Speier (D-CA), Ted Deutch (D-FL), Norma Torres (D-CA), Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Julia Brownley (D-CA) and Katherine Clark (D-MA) released the following statement today after multiple state governments attempted to limit abortion services during the COVID-19 crisis:

“We are in the midst of an unprecedented global health crisis. Yet, rather than focus on protecting the public health, anti-choice politicians throughout the country are exploiting this crisis to try and block patients’ constitutionally protected access to abortion care.

“Let’s be clear: Abortion is an essential, time-sensitive medical procedure. And we are not going to let these individuals play politics with public health during this pandemic.

“As leaders of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, we are doing everything we can to ensure patients have access to reproductive health care during this difficult time.”
