District Office (Oklahoma City) Internships

Internship applications for the fall 2020 semester are closed. Check back later for spring 2021 internship opportunities.

We look for highly motivated, personable, and professional interns. Tasks include answering phones, handling incoming and outgoing mail, assisting with casework intake, attending and reporting on virtual meetings, assisting virtual event planning, assisting the communications team with press monitoring, assisting the DC policy team with research, and supporting staff as needed. Our interns are provided with first-hand experiences and gain invaluable insight into the legislative process, the importance of casework, and the value of constituent and community outreach.

Preferred candidates are current students or recent graduates with computer skills, strong writing skills, close attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and can work well on a team. We acknowledge that some candidates may not feel their professional experience or skill-set are a perfect match for this role. However, if you are passionate about this work and want to do good for your community, we encourage you to apply.

Interns must serve in the Oklahoma City district office a minimum of 10 hours per week, during which time they must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Preferably, interns spend 20+ hours per week interning in the district office. The district office is currently closed to visitors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Candidates will be considered according to their whole person and community leadership potential, and not necessarily academic ability. Previous political experience is not mandatory. The Office of Congresswoman Kendra Horn is equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, age, familial status, military status, religion, disability, genetic information, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity and expression. We welcome and encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and transgender people.
