Chairwoman Roybal-Allard Announces $2.4 Million in FEMA Grants to LA-Area Urban Search & Rescue Teams

Today, House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee Chairwoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) announced the awarding of more than $2.4 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) grants to Los Angeles-area US&R teams.  The City of Los Angeles’ US&R team will be receiving $1,180,631, and the Los Angeles County US&R team will be receiving $1,266,631.  As chairwoman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Chairwoman Roybal-Allard oversees FEMA funding.

“I am so pleased to celebrate these FEMA grants to support Urban Search and Rescue teams in our Los Angeles-area communities,” said Chairwoman Roybal-Allard.  “These teams provide invaluable emergency response support, including searching for survivors of disasters, providing lifesaving medical care, and stabilizing damaged structures.  As chairwoman of the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, I am grateful to FEMA for providing our local Urban Search and Rescue teams with this crucial funding, and I will keep working to ensure FEMA has the funds it requires to continue supporting these teams in our local communities and nationwide.”
