Davis Joins Letter Opposing Trump Executive Orders Undermining Worker Rights

Congressman Danny K. Davis joined with Democratic colleagues in a letter to President Trump " . . .expressing our strong opposition to three Executive Orders you issued on May 25 that would undermine collective bargaining, union representation and whistleblower protections for federal workers.  We join with members of Congress on both sides of the aisles who are asking you to rescind those Orders, which we do not believe comply with existing law.”

These Executive Orders are a direct attack on Federal workers, union rights, and our communities. They continue this administrations cruel anti-worker, anti-human rights agenda. These orders do not comply with existing law and they are eroding the economic well being of millions of Americans.  It is no co-incidence that CBS news reported today "Worker pay in the second quarter dropped nearly one percent below its first-quarter level, according to the PayScale Index, one measure of worker pay. When accounting for inflation, the drop is even steeper. Year-over-year, rising prices have eaten up still-modest pay gains for many workers, with the result that real wages fell 1.4 percent from the prior year, according to PayScale. The drop was broad, with 80 percent of industries and two-thirds of metro areas affected."

I continue to look for positive legislative responses to these heartless attacks.
