Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) voted to pass H.R. 8294, the National Apprenticeship Act of 2020 through the House of Representatives. As our nation faces the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, the legislation would invest more than $3.5 billion over five years to create nearly 1 million additional apprenticeship opportunities. Registered Apprenticeships – which provide apprentices with paid, on-the-job training – are the nation’s most successful federal workforce training program.

Today, U.S. Representatives Susan Wild (D-PA) and Brett Guthrie (R-KY) introduced a resolution designating November as National College Application Month. As COVID-19 continues to complicate high school seniors’ and others’ assessment of their educational plans with fewer students applying to college and completing the FAFSA when compared to a year ago, this bipartisan effort is intended to bolster the work of college-going advocacy groups across the country working with students to help them identify their college options and move through the process.
