Service Academy Nominations
Thank you for contacting me regarding a nomination to one of our nation's service academies. Although I am only able to make a few nominations each year, they are among the most important and difficult decisions I make as your United States congressman. Because of the limited number of nominations each Member of Congress can make, I encourage you to also contact Senator Cornyn and Senator Cruz about their nomination process. To be sure that I am your congressman, please visit https://fyi.capitol.texas.gov/ to determine if you reside in the 25th congressional district.
Service Academy Applicants must be:
- U.S. Citizens
- Legal Residents of the 25th Congressional District of Texas
- At least 17 years of age, but not yet 23 years of age by July 1 of the year of admission
- Unmarried with no dependents
By law, graduates of the service academies are appointed to active duty as commissioned officers and serve in the appropriate branch of the military for a minimum of five years
DEADLINE: November 1, 2020
To apply for a nomination from Congressman Williams, please review the information packet and submit the application packet by November 1, 2020.
When you are finished completing the application packet, please send to our Austin office, by mail or email (excluding transcripts--these must be mailed so that they remain official), so the Academy Nominations Coordinator may prepare your file to be seen by the Academy Selection Board.
Application Process
November 1, 2020: Application Deadline – All required items must be postmarked by this date.
November (Date TBD): Academy Selection Board meeting and interviews conducted.
December 2020/January 2021: Academy Coordinator finalizes Congressman Williams’ nominations.
January 2021: Nomination notification letters mailed to applicants.
